The Saint Catherine Windows at Regensburg Cathedral

1325-1370
Stained glass
5th south bay, St. Peter's Cathedral, Regensburg, Germany

The two windows on the left picture SS. Catherine of Alexandria and Margaret, below, and two unidentified saints above. St. Catherine wears a crown and holds a wheel in her left hand, a sword in her right. St. Margaret is identified in the cathedral's guide book but does not appear to have any attributes except her crown.

On the right the bottom roundel presents the beheadings of Catherine and Margaret. The other roundels present (starting at the top) St. Catherine's disquisition with the philosophers (Maxentius presiding on the right), the scourging of St. Margaret (Maxentius again on the right), and the wheel incident (Maxentius and Catherine on the right, wheel and pagan victims on the left).
